V.G. Sakthi Kumar is the chairman and managing director of SCHWING Stetter India, responsible for Schwing’s operations in India, ASEAN, and Africa, including general management, operations, sales, and support for the Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) industry. He has more than 30 years of business experience in the RMC and construction machinery business.
Sakthi is a 25-year veteran of SCHWING Stetter. He was elevated to the position of chairman to the board members of SCHWING Stetter India in April 2023. Before his current role, he served as the chief operating officer in 2006. With a significant contribution to the company’s business in India, creating and delivering strategic initiatives necessary to achieve the growth goals – he established an in-house R&D facility and was instrumental in the launching of 52 Acres of 50,000 sq.Mt, SCHWING Stetter’s state-of-the-art Global Manufacturing Hub (GMH) Plant at Cheyyar, Tamilnadu, India. He successfully established a dealership network with strong footing in India for all non-concreting products. This initiative has helped SCHWING Stetter India provide total construction equipment solutions and the company now has a product portfolio of more than 29 products.
As a global manufacturing leader, Sakthi served as the convener of the Data Panel of the Indian Construction Equipment Manufactures’ Association (ICEMA) and is also a GC Member of ICEMA. Recently he ahs been elected to be the treasurer of ICEMA for the period of 2023 -25 . And he plays an active role in Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and led two business delegations to Nepal and South Africa.
He is the chairman of the Mechanization committee in the Builders association of India(BAI). He has been conferred with the post for the past consecutive 13 years.
Sakthi is playing a key role in charting the next chapter of India’s manufacturing economy, while developing Schwing as the market leader in the segment. Sakthi is known for his leadership style to bring younger generation of professionals to the manufacturing sector. Thus, often advocates for gender diversity and providing training and opportunities for women and young working professionals.
Sakthi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and an MBA degree from the school of management, Pondicherry University.
