Withdrawal of additional fee on vehicles carrying CEVs

14 January 2021

ICEMA submitted a representation to Government of Maharashtra requesting them to invoke the Maharashtra State notification no. MVR 0812/C.R. 43/TRA-2 released in 2017. Under this notification the State had imposed an additional fee on vehicles carrying Construction Equipment Vehicles (CEVs), leading to an extra cost to be borne by them. As per the notification, all trailers / trucks passing through Maharashtra would have to pay a fee at all Maharashtra borders, thereby impacting transportation of CEVs even to other states such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

ICEMA, in its representation to the Government, submitted that the move had increased the time frame of the approval activity between 72 hours to 96 hours (excl. non-working days viz Saturday/Sunday/Holidays) which is an additional time to transport and increased waiting period for the infrastructure sector. Further, the above move has greatly impacted the ease of doing business in the state. ICEMA further recommended that the state Government revisit the said notification and requested for the withdrawal of additional fee for indivisible load category.
