MoRTH favourably considered ICEMA’s request to defer the implementation of the next level emission norms, in view of the various challenges triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 30, 2020, MoRTH released the final notification which included a deferment of implementation of CEV Stage-IV Emission Norms from Oct 1, 2020 to April 1, 2021. Further, MoRTH also incorporated the changed nomenclature of CEV Stage-IV/V emission norms in place of BS (CEV/TREM) -IV/V, as proposed by ICEMA. This will help overcome the anticipated registration issues arising due to incorrect interpretation of CEV emission norms with that of the commercial vehicles.
