ICEMA made a representation to the Government for registration of construction equipment vehicles in e-Vahan portal, post implementation of CEV Stage IV w.e.f. 1st April 2021. As per the government notification, the timelines for manufacturing the CEV Stage – IV (for Gross Engine Power ranging from 37kW to 560kW) compliant CEVs was defined as 1st April 2021 and for manufacturing CEV Stage – V (for all Gross Engine Power range) compliant CEVs was defined as 1st April 2024.
With reference to this notification and GSR 276(E) dt. 10th April 2007, the Government clarified that all CEVs with Gross Engine Power (without fan) ranging from 37kW to 560 kW can be manufactured in compliance with the Bharat Stage III (CEV) upto 31st March 2021 and will be registered up to 30th September 2021. Further, all CEVs with Gross Engine Power (without fan) less than 37kW can be manufactured in compliance with Bharat Stage III (CEV) upto 31st March 2024 and will be registered up to 30th Sep 2024.
Since the e-vahan portal did not have the provision of power ratings, it clearly implied that the option in e-vahan portal to register Bharat Stage III (CEV) would remain valid till 30th Sep 2024. ICEMA in its submission to the Government suggested to allow an additional drop-down option of “Diesel+CNG” in the “fuel” field category.
